Dinosaurs, district heating and a not insignificant amount of wine...
No doubt some of you will have started creating your own punchlines for the title to this blog...
What this blog is actually about is showing off a little.
Last November, we coordinated the Association for Decentralised Energy's Annual Awards Dinner. Thanks to kind sponsorship from Vital Energi and others, the Awards Dinner was held at the Natural History Museum, beneath the bones of Dippy the Dinosaur, shortly before he embarked on his Grand Tour...
The Natural History Museum is celebrating 10 years of district heating - and before the Awards Dinner, some lucky folks got a behind-the-scenes tour of the energy centre with the Vital Energi team. It's no easy thing creating and sustaining the right conditions in a museum, but the Museum, Vital and their partners have achieved great results over the last decade.
2016 was our 8th Awards Dinner with the Association - and possibly our grandest! 420 guests, a packed Awards programme recognising some of the best projects in the district heating, CHP and demand side reduction sectors, a fine menu and great company. Vital Energi wanted to share some of the atmosphere with a wider audience and so produced a short film of the event.

We're now in the planning phase for the 2017 Awards Dinner - which will be extra special as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Association for Decentralised Energy. From its origins as the District Heating Association, through its years as the Combined Heat and Power Association, to its current representation across a very broad range of industry sectors: there's a rich history of industrial innovation, political ups and downs, community leadership and sheer belligerence that we'll be helping the Association to explore in the coming 12 months.
We hope you enjoy the film and the insight it gives you into one of the most prestigious events that we run each year. Alongside the Dinner, we also organise the annual Heat Conference, for the ADE and the Energy Institute - more details on the 2017 event coming soon.
