Long time, no blog. What have SE2 been up to?
Regular readers of our website will have noticed that our blog has been pretty quiet recently. Here's a quick round-up of all the latest news from SE2 Towers:
DECC Green Deal Supply Chain Roadshows
We've been out and about over the last couple of weeks helping DECC and the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Buildings to run a series of roadshows as we head towards the launch of Green Deal. The roadshows are all about the opportunities that Green Deal brings for supply chain businesses and the response has been fantastic, with over 1500 businesses booking to attend and waiting lists for every event. We've been coordinating things behind the scene but, in the run-up to Green Deal, we'll no doubt be sharing our own thoughts on how householders, business customers, communities and the supply chain can capitalise.
Installers and products: getting to grips with training and accreditation
Late last year, we co-wrote a guide on skills, training and accreditation for low carbon retrofit for the Institute for Sustainability. We focused on installers and products; Linn Rafferty of JTec provided guidance on assessments and advice. Given all of the changes related to Green Deal over the past few months, we're just putting the finishing touches to updated versions of the guide. It's one of an amazing series of guides, edited by Peter Rickaby of Rickaby Thompson Associates, which cover everything you need to know about low carbon retrofit - well worth a read! Supporting schools to save carbon
Our work with schools continues. After putting policy into practice in our involvement with two Carbon Trust schools programmes last year, we've been working on two tools to help enable schools to identify their carbon emissions, prioritise areas for improvements and develop action plans. The Atlas Schools toolkit - a carbon footprinting tool for schools across Europe - is now being tested in the UK and the Netherlands (with schools in Italy and Poland coming on board soon). The other toolkit which explores energy saving and behaviour change is still under wraps but we'll keep you posted as it makes its way to launch, most probably in the Autumn term. Find out more about the Atlas toolkit at www.atlasschools.org.
National Bat Conference 2012
We've been working with the Bat Conservation Trust for around a year now, helping them to gear up for their annual conference. This year's event will be held from 14th – 16th September at York University. If you're interested in conservation, or you just want to know more about bats, visit the BCT's website or even book a place at the conference! Conference details are available at http://bats.eventhq.co.uk/national_bat_conference_2012.
Plenty more going on - and we promise to share it with you soon. And if we don't, well, we're off to Greenwich Park to watch the Olympic 3-Day Eventing soon, so we'll post up some pictures of that!
In the meantime, if you want to find out more about what we do, give us a call on 020 8469 1333.
