Happy 9th Birthday to us!
Yes, it’s that time of year again!
And, as it’s our ninth birthday, we thought we’d sit down and make a list of the nine best things about working for SE2. Narrowing the list down was almost impossible, but with the aid of a bottle of champagne and in no particular order...
A new job every day
SE2 work on a huge range of projects, of all different shapes and sizes. One day we might be meeting with a group of vulnerable tenants to discuss the impact of government legislation on their day to day lives, the next facilitating a stakeholder workshop that will directly influence new policy. This variation keeps things fresh and exciting, and allows us to bring holistic insight to each new project. You can find out more about our current projects here.
In the midst
After nine (very busy!) years in the industry, SE2 are firmly rooted in the middle of the action. Our experience, constant active involvement and strong relationships with colleagues and business partners ensure we stay central to what’s going on.
Rewarding working relationships
Working alongside likeminded people is incredibly rewarding. Our work allows us to meet a hugely diverse range of people, many of whom become firm friends of SE2. After nearly a decade in the sector, our input is increasingly respected and valued by those whom we work with and alongside.
Continual learning
Our team members are continually encouraged to get away from their comfort zone and try something new. Whether this means running a conference on bats for over 300 people, or facilitating discussions over what smart grid roll out might mean for UK consumers, the SE2 staff are on a constant learning curve!
Tasty treats
With Kathryn’s homemade millionaires’ shortbread and a filled-to-bursting biscuit jar it’s a wonder we don’t all weigh 5 times as much as we do! Christmas sees the emergence of the mince pie chart (ratings on taste, texture and of course, sustainability) and a recent bake sale raised over £60 for a local charity.
Saving the planet
Nothing beats having “saving the planet” as part of your job description.
Working in Greenwich
An area rich with maritime history, lunch breaks can be spent marvelling at the majestic Cutty Sark, the beautiful local architecture or, if you’re feeling extra fit, trekking up the hill to enjoy the view and straddle the Meridian Line. Last year the university helped put some extra green into Greenwich when they topped People and Planet’s Green League and close to the office you’ll find celebrated bee keepers, community gardens and a city farm. A friendly local community, a good cup of coffee and the soothing sound of the Thames rolling past all add to the appeal of working for SE2!
Practical action
With something as big as climate change, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and spend all your time worrying about the future. It’s especially rewarding to know we’re involved in practical action every day- maintaining excellent standards and helping others to make positive, sustainable changes.
The SE2 Team
Last, but not in any way least: what could be better than coming to work to be greeted by these smiling faces? Working for SE2 is like being part of a very joyful and exuberant extended family! Happy Birthday SE2!
P.s. Next year will be our 10th anniversary and we have some very exciting plans in the pipeline. Keep an eye out on the blog for updates, and get your creative side in gear…
