Since closing our office in Greenwich in May 2014 and deciding to make the ultimate green move to home working, we realised the need to totally rethink the way in which we report our environmental performance.
This has taken some time as we now needed a new way to measure our emissions. We couldn’t find any examples of online tools based on home working so we have developed our footprint as closely as possible using our own calculator for energy consumption and we would like to invite your thoughts and comments on our methodology. We really hope this will help others in a similar position!
This year’s report highlights a significant shift in emissions with our elimination of commuting and a remarkable achievement with regards to our savings in energy. We used just 10% of electricity working from home compared to using the office (a fall from 1,320kWh to 135kWh/yr), and only 12% of gas (a fall from 5,031kWh to 588kWh/yr) – which is an astonishing saving!
Our overall CO2 emissions have decreased by 43.24% compared with 2013. Something we’re very proud of!
