The best climate debate you'll ever see
This 4 minute video is so good I just simply had to share it. It needs to be out there in the world where everyone can see it, use it, laugh at it, and share.
You can watch it here: http://youtu.be/cjuGCJJUGsg*. You can also read a blog by one of the guys behind the science here.
John Oliver is a British comedian, political satirist and actor, best known in the U.S. for his work on The Daily Show. This clip is from the new 'Last Week Tonight' show and it cuts so beautifully to the chase: Climate change is fact. There is no debate. We don't need a public vote. We need to act now.
"False balance" has been getting increasing coverage, with the BBC being criticized by MPs for giving political opinions about climate changeand scientific fact the same weight of coverage. It was raised too by Prof Chris Rapley at the National Adaptation Conference that I attended in February (see my 'People Centred Debate' blog from March). It's even got a Wikipedia page.
Anyone reading is likely to be 100% behind the climate change science, and will probably be working to do something about it (though I bet you could all do more in your personal life to make a difference - ever asked a room full of sustainability experts how many of them have installed renewable technologies at home?) This is a video for the masses. And it should be something that every one of you shares with your friends, family and colleagues. Go on - I dare you.
* There is a 'profane language' warning, so you may not want to play it in an open plan office...!
