Keeping Londoners warm and well at home this winter
We've been working hard this winter on a range of projects designed to support London residents keep warm and well at home.
Many people find it hard to keep warm at home. The cost of energy keeps on rising, at a time when incomes are falling. Fixing or replacing a heating system is expensive and it's difficult to understand the funding and support that's available. And many of London's homes don't lend themselves to cheap and easy energy efficiency improvements, but need a lot of investment to help their owners or tenants to keep themselves warm and well.
If you would like to find out more about the issue of cold homes, why not come to one of our forthcoming events:
Thursday 31st January, 9.30 - 11.30am: Hammersmith
A session for the voluntary, health and public sectors: if you're a frontline worker supporting residents in Hammersmith and Fulham, this session will introduce you to the issue of cold homes and spotlight the support that is available within the Borough.
Wednesday 13th February, 2.30 - 4.30pm: Westminster
A workshop for volunteers and voluntary sector staff to talk about the challenges of living in a cold home, how the voluntary sector could respond, and the local support that Westminster residents could access.
Monday 18th February, time TBC: Kensington
Open to health workers, local authority staff and the voluntary sector, this training session will address the causes and effects of fuel poverty and introduce participants to the Healthy Homes scheme, a dedicated local helpline and advice service which helps over 100 residents each year to reduce their energy bills and improve the comfort of their home.
